The Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) is a public entity funded by a 1/2-cent sales tax and governed by a seven-member board appointed by the City Council.
The Forney E. D. C. operates a 160-acre industrial park d/b/a
FORNEY BUSINESS PARK. The park has all utilities underground, wide concrete
streets and up to date communication facilities provided by Southwestern Bell
Telephone. Electric and Natural Gas is provided by TXU-the largest Public
Utility in the Southwest United States. The Steve Silver Company has sites at
the FORNEY BUSINESS PARK.
They have (30)
acres of property, (215,000)
square feet of warehouse, 8,000 square ft. of office space and (190) employees.
Other sites are offered for
sale in four (4) plus acre lots. The park has restrictive covenants and
building codes.
The Forney E. D. C. also acts in an advisory capacity to the City
Council in matters concerning tax abatement, Freeport exemptions, and all
economic development projects.
